Ride Overview
Some rides are beautiful…….This one lets you become part of Britain’s equestrian heritage.
Our partner has created epic options for riders who want more than a trail ride. We open the gate to a world that’s normally reserved for those with lifelong local connections—thrilling days in the hunting field, fast cross-country riding across rolling countryside, and an authentic taste of rural Britain that few visitors ever experience. For generations, the British countryside has been shaped by horses, farms, and centuries-old traditions. But without knowing the right people, these experiences are almost impossible to access. They’ve built those relationships for you, creating exclusive weekends where accomplished riders can step straight into the heart of British country life. We offer hunting weeks, hunting weekends and cross country clinics.
From the moment you arrive, everything is designed to let you ride with confidence and freedom. You’ll be carefully matched with an exceptional horse selected for your experience and riding style, then fine-tune your skills during an expert-led cross-country clinic before heading into the field.
Then the real adventure begins.
Ride alongside local horsemen and women across rolling farmland, ancient woodlands, and iconic British countryside. Tackle natural obstacles, gallop open stretches, jump hedges if you’re ready, or choose a steadier line while soaking up the atmosphere. Every day is different. Every ride is real. This isn’t a choreographed holiday—it’s British riding at its most authentic.
The adventure continues long after you leave the saddle. Share stories over a pint in a centuries-old country pub. Enjoy hearty meals prepared with local ingredients. Try traditional countryside pursuits like clay pigeon shooting. Meet the farmers, trainers, and horsemen who have dedicated their lives to preserving these remarkable traditions. Every experience is genuine, every connection meaningful. As evening falls, retreat to charming countryside accommodation where roaring fires, great food, and like-minded riders create the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. It’s the kind of place where friendships are forged over shared adventures and plans are made for the next day’s ride.
Modern British trail/drag hunting is a contemporary evolution of traditional mounted hunting, designed to preserve its structure, skills, and social heritage while following a pre-laid scent rather than live quarry. Since the Hunting Act of 2004, all organised hunts in Britain have operated on this basis — and what has emerged is a practice that many argue captures the very best of the tradition: the riding, the landscape, the hounds, and the community, distilled into something that reflects the values of a modern countryside. You’ll ride with established hunts in the region who share the commitment to land stewardship, responsible riding, and genuine hospitality. No animals are harmed at any stage — and for us, that isn’t a footnote. It’s a foundation.
If your idea of the perfect holiday is challenging yourself on a superb horse, exploring spectacular countryside at a proper pace, and gaining access to experiences that simply can’t be booked off the shelf, you’ve found it. This isn’t just a riding holiday. It’s your invitation into one of Britain’s most exclusive equestrian traditions.

5 Day/4 Night Program
Day 1:
We've deliberately kept your first day relaxed, giving you time to settle into the rhythm of the British countryside. An optional airport transfer departs Heathrow or Gatwick at 1:00 pm, making your journey effortless—just sit back, enjoy the scenery, and let the adventure begin. Prefer to make your own way? No problem—simply arrive by early afternoon so you have time to unwind before the fun starts.
Once you've settled into your room, it's time for your first taste of authentic rural Britain. We'll head to a traditional country pub, where roaring fireplaces, local ales, and hearty British classics set the scene for the weekend ahead. Whether you're craving perfectly crisp fish and chips, a comforting steak and ale pie, or another local favorite, this is where the stories begin.
Meet your fellow riders, raise a glass, and soak up the atmosphere as we walk you through the exciting days ahead. By the end of the evening, you'll already feel like part of the group—and tomorrow, the real adventure begins.
Day 2:
Today is where the excitement really begins.
After breakfast, you'll meet your four-legged teammate for the riding—your carefully selected horse, expertly matched to your riding ability, confidence, and style. This is your chance to get acquainted before heading out into the hunting field.
The morning is spent in a hands-on cross-country clinic led by experienced professionals who know these horses inside and out. Ride across rolling countryside, tackle natural obstacles, and fine-tune your balance, rhythm, and position over British cross-country fences. Whether you're looking to polish your technique or simply build confidence before tomorrow's big adventure, the clinic is tailored to help you and your horse become a true partnership.
Expect plenty of coaching, encouragement, and a whole lot of fun—you'll leave feeling excited, prepared, and ready for what's to come.
After an exhilarating morning in the saddle, it's time to embrace another great British tradition: afternoon tea. Refuel with homemade treats, fresh scones, and a proper cup of tea while swapping stories with your fellow riders.
As the sun sets, gather back at your country accommodation for a delicious home-cooked dinner showcasing the best seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Relax, unwind, and enjoy the anticipation—because tomorrow is the day you've been waiting for.
Day 3:
This is the day you've been waiting for.
Fuel up with a hearty country breakfast featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients before we set off for the hunt meet. As you arrive, the excitement is unmistakable—beautifully turned-out horses, eager hounds, riders gathering from across the countryside, and centuries of British tradition coming to life. Your hireling will be tacked up, ready, and waiting for you.
Then it's time to ride.
Accompanied by an experienced guide, you'll head into the field and experience the thrill of a genuine British hunt. Gallop across rolling farmland, weave through ancient woodlands, splash through streams, and, if you're up for it, tackle the iconic hedges, rails, and natural obstacles that make British hunting legendary. Prefer a steadier pace? That's absolutely fine too. Your guide will help you enjoy the day in a way that matches your confidence and ambition, ensuring an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
The hunt typically runs from around 9 or 10 a.m. until early afternoon, delivering hours of exhilarating riding, spectacular countryside, and memories you'll be talking about for years.
Afterwards, there's only one proper way to celebrate—a leisurely lunch at a traditional country pub. For many guests, it's impossible to resist a classic Sunday-style roast (with all the trimmings), enjoyed alongside fellow riders as everyone relives the day's best moments.
Back at your countryside retreat, the late afternoon is yours. Put your feet up with a well-earned drink, wander the local village, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings before gathering once again for a delicious home-cooked dinner. As stories of daring jumps, fast gallops, and unforgettable moments are shared around the table, you'll quickly discover that it's these evenings—almost as much as the riding itself—that make the program so special.
Day 4:
After yesterday's adrenaline, Day Four strikes the perfect balance of country sports, great riding, and plenty of laughs.
The morning begins with clay pigeon shooting under the guidance of an expert instructor. Never picked up a shotgun before? You're in good company. This relaxed, beginner-friendly session is all about learning something new, celebrating the hits, laughing off the misses, and embracing another classic British countryside tradition.
Then it's back where you belong—in the saddle.
This afternoon, we'll head out on a scenic pub ride through rolling countryside, quiet lanes, and picturesque farmland. It's a chance to relax, soak up the views, and enjoy your horse at an easy pace after the excitement of the hunt.
Of course, no pub ride would be complete without a stop at a traditional country inn. Tie up the horses, grab a well-earned drink, and toast an unforgettable ride with your fellow riders before making your way home through the beautiful British countryside.
That evening, we'll gather one last time for a home-cooked farewell dinner. It's the perfect opportunity to relive the weekend's highlights, swap photos, share plenty of stories, and start planning your next adventure.
Day 5:
The final morning offers a guided tour of the hound kennels and a dedicated session exploring the history of the hunt. This is a rare and fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of an institution that has shaped the British countryside for well over a century. You will meet the hounds, hear from those who care for them, and gain an understanding of the centuries-old traditions, the working relationships between horse, hound and rider, and the role hunting has played in the rural communities you have been moving through all week.
Following the morning’s session, we will wrap up and make the journey home to collect your luggage.
An optional airport drop-off is available, with our team happy to accommodate your onward travel wherever possible. As always, do let us know if there is a preferred drop-off location and we will do our best to facilitate.
3 Day/2 Night Program
Day 1:
Your adventure begins the moment you arrive.

Kick things off with a welcoming drink, meet your fellow riders, and get the inside scoop on the exciting adventures that lie ahead.
After a delicious home-cooked lunch, it's time to meet the horse that will become your partner for the weekend. During an expert-led cross-country clinic (approximately 2–2.5 hours in the saddle), you'll get to know your carefully matched horse while building confidence over natural obstacles, fine-tuning your technique, and finding your rhythm together. It's the perfect introduction before heading into the hunting field.
As the afternoon winds down, return to your country accommodation for a hearty English dinner made with fresh, local ingredients. Then settle in for a relaxed evening—swap stories with your fellow riders over a drink, unwind by the fire, or simply enjoy a peaceful night's sleep knowing that the adventure is only just beginning.
