Ride Overview

Hold onto your helmets riders (and non riders – listen up!) because we almost don’t have words to adequately describe this over the top luxury experience – we feel so truly blessed to be able to introduce you to this utterly unique experience.

What is it? Oh just some old world charm meeting straight up with blissful luxury and majestic views! Trust us – you can’t even imagine…….sheer bliss!

The Homestead takes guests back to the 19th century – to a pastoral property that showcases the pioneering spirit of Australian forebears – you Americans, think Yellowstone’s Dutton Ranch but with even MORE amenities! It’s been meticulously renovated to provide a contemporary and luxurious accommodation experience, featuring seven bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms that are set amongst a five-acre English themed garden. Every day you will wake up in the foothills of the majestic Grampians Mountains and marvel at this incredible landscape.

Riders – after a chef prepared farm to table breakfast, head out each day on rides of varied lengths from 2-5 hours to explore the vast station grounds. Each day you’ll explore a different area as you get to know your athletic and fun herd of horses. You’ll pass through an olive grove, ride down sandy tracks and along the lake edge and enjoy a sunset ride. Be sure keep an eye out for your “local” companions – kangaroos, cockatoos, kookabarras, and if you’re really lucky, koalas!

And foodies – this trip is 150% for you! Inspired by the dinner parties of the roaring 20s that used to be hosted in the stately Homestead, you will enjoy pre-dinner drinks at 6pm in the famous rhino room, before heading into dinner at 7 p.m. in the formal dining room for a unique, communal dining experience that allows everyone to connect over an unforgettable meal.

For non riders, the station is a paradise with ample hiking, fishing on the private lake which contains a row boat, tennis, croquet and relaxing by the pool or enjoying a pre-booked massage service. The local area is renowned for 5-star wineries which can be visited during the day for tastings – this trip is the epitome of a riders and non riders dream in an idyllic part of Victoria.

And one more super special note for all of our local Aussie friends – YES – You can even BRING YOUR OWN HORSE!!!!! Bully for you!

Day 1 – Arrival & Introduction

3pm-5pm – Check-in & welcome to the start of a wonderful stay on this historic station. After you've had a chance to settle in for a bit, you'll enjoy a garden walk and tour of the historic Homestead and Bluestone Stables — the historic stables of the farm, newly rebuilt as an event venue while preserving its original charm and decor. Along the way you will also meet the horses and guides.

Afterward, relax by the pool or enjoy a sauna or even a game of tennis, if you feel the urge. Or, you can also just relax in this bucolic environment and unwind with a glass of local wine and a good book.

At 6pm make your way to the Rhino Room for pre dinner drinks and to get to know the staff and fellow riders before your 7pm 3-course farm to table gourmet dinner in the Dining Room. What you will enjoy is created by an amazing chef, sourced from locally grown items which often includes the famous local lamb.

Day 2 – Scenic Ride Through the Property

A wonderful Gourmet country-cooked breakfast is served from 8:30am - 9:30am and then at 10am you'll have the horse orientation and safety briefing, then in the saddle by 10:30am!

Today's ride will run until about 3:30pm and is a fun trail ride exploring Mount William Station and the surrounding trails. You will ride beside the olive grove, across open fields, overlooking the magnificent Grampians mountains in the distance. It's sheer bliss!

Following the sandy track along broken bridge trail (7km) you'll get a panoramic view of the mountain range where riders can stop for your chef prepared packed lunch by a stately gum tree in nature. Spot kangaroos in the distance and the amazing bird life near the national park.

Return along the tail back towards the Estate where you'll meander through red gum dotted paddocks and follow the creekline to the farm's private watering hole, Lake Anne. A perfect spot for a short rest and drink while you admire the mountain range beyond and all manor of native ducks, swans and potentially the famous brolga. Before riding between the historic heritage-listed woolshed and shearers quarters, past the polo field, as you make your way back to the homestead.

Today's ride is about 16km in all and brings you back around 3:30pm.

After you've had a chance to take a dip in the pool or enjoy the sauna, shower and clean up, you'll meet again at 6pm in the Rhino Room for pre-dinner drinks before another gourmet dinner at 7pm either in the Dining Room or set up on the verandah overlooking lush gardens.

Day 3– Mindfulness & Riding

Another gourmet country-cooked breakfast is served from 8:30am - 9:30am after which you'll meet up at 10am for a 30 minute introduction to meditation and connection session with your horse. We love that not only does this encourage you to relax, but it's a wonderful way to tune in to your horse, you'll be amazed at the shared energy between you both and also some of the things your horse is sharing with you.

Around 10:30am you'll mount back up and today, take the trail ride to Masons Creek - winding its way through old paths on the station until you arrive to a delicious picnic lunch under the huge gum trees and rolling hills covered in ferns. Keep an eye out for a fox or admire the farms sheep and cattle roaming the paddocks as you take a well earnt rest.

After lunch, hop back into the saddle to ride along the laneway to Fernbank before returning to the homestead around 3pm - Distance: 13km

6:00pm pre dinner drinks await along with you 7:00pm gourmet dinner in the homestead dining room, once again created by their amazing chef.

Day 4 – Horse Communication and Wine Experience

One can really get used to these lovely gourmet country-cooked breakfasts, a perfect way to relax, beginning at 8:30am.

From 10:30am - 12pm we begin our Workshop: Understanding Horse Communication offer by one of our trained guides on the subject - and meant to deepen your relationship not just with your horse during your stay, but to offer you resources for use with your horse at home. Clients have thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the program as the horse/human bond is fine tuned and strengthened.

Get ready to fine tune your palate(s) - from 1pm - 5pm you'll enjoy a wine tasting flight along with a delicious lunch served in the garden. Australia is long known for lovely wines as the terroir is perfect for growing. So get ready to taste for yourself as you swirl, sniff, and sip. learn and enjoy (and we won't tell if you opt not "spit"!)

The wine tasting of the region is combined with a session from our resident artist, where you can sip wine and paint (a palate of a different variety) your horse with the help from the artist - and much like a Paint and Sip Party, you get to take your masterpiece home so you always have a beautiful reminder of your holiday.

This private wine tasting and painting session at Mount William Station is a guided tour for your taste buds and will run until around 4pm.

Afterward, feel free to have a small nap, relax (maybe by the pool) or enjoy the comfort in the lounge room with a book and another glass of local wine.

6pm cocktail hour awaits as does your 7pm gourmet dinner in the homestead Dining Room.

Day 5 – Relaxation & Sunset Ride

8:30am - 9:30am – Gourmet country-cooked breakfast before your morning groundwork exercise with the horses and how to build trust and communication with your horse. This is a fun session for both rider and horse and really helps you both cue into each other. We love how spending time with the horses in this way, really affects the way both parties interact later in the day when we go out on the trail. ( Already done the horse therapy session?)

After the groundwork session you've got time to relax on the property (Lounge area, Swimming pool, Sauna, Tennis Court, small Golf Course) and enjoy a delicious lunch.

From 4pm - 6pm we mount up and enjoy a stunning sunset ride along the small ridgeline overlooking the wetlands past the cattle yards, around the big marshland full of swans and birdlife, and then along the creek line to Lake Anne all the while riding shoulder to shoulder amongst sheep and cattle. It's like riding your own private expansive ranch on a serene evening......with a total distance of 6km

Returning back to the homestead for 6pm cocktails and tonight, your 7pm dinner is a BBQ theme at the Bluestone Stables while you relax around the outdoor fire.

Day 6 - Departure

8am - 9am – Continental breakfast a chance to bid a fond farewell to the horses before you check out at 10am.
