Dinner is served in the restaurant where you’ll be introduced to traditional Norwegian cuisine made from fresh, local ingredients. You will meet your guide for the week. We’ll go through the week’s program together and you’ll get to know the history of the restaurant
After dinner, we’ll take a shorter ride under the midnight sun (3 km). You’ll be introduced to our horses and stables. On the tour, you’ll get to taste and see where the stockfish is hung to dry in the winter and spring months. You’ll also learn more about the history of our farm and the old Viking settlement here.
Day 2: Monday - Horse riding and local dry fishing trip
Enjoy breakfast in the restaurant before you take your first full-day ride (approx. 25 km).
We ride over Vikingveien and the nature reserve on Gimsøy. We cross Vinjestranden and end up at the local fish producer for stockfish where we get a guided tour and tasting and learn about traditional methods of fish drying and preparation that are thousands of years old. As part of this unique experience, you will select your fish for later culinary experiences before stopping for a short, simple lunch on the way back to the farm.
Back at the farm, we put our selected stockfish in running water for the final Saturday show-cooking experience. We will be changing the water several times over the next 6 days to keep them all fresh. In the evening, dinner will be served with delicious dishes focusing on local ingredients.
Day 3: Tuesday - Picking local herbs on horseback
After breakfast, we make our second full-day trip on horseback (approx. 20-30 km depending on the route).
We combine the ride with a guided adventure with wild herbs and berry picking. Discover the lush, fragrant fields and learn how to identify the best wild herbs and berries, depending on the season before enjoying a simple lunch out in nature with local produce and freshly picked herbs.
Afternoon: Experience a soothing sauna session by the Nordic Sea and enjoy the stunning views as you relax. For those looking for a real adventure - take a refreshing dip in the sea!
This Evening: We’ll gather for a tasting menu featuring exquisite local produce and creative culinary techniques. Learn about traditional cooking methods and flavor combinations.
Day 4: Wednesday - Ribsafari to the fjords and overnight stay at Kvitnes Gård
Breakfast at the restaurant before travelling to Kvitnes Gård on an RIB (rigid inflatable boat) - it's such a blast!!! It is approx. 1 hour and 45 min boat trip and all necessary safety equipment will be provided, but dress warmly as this will be a trip partly over open sea. It's a great adventure where you really get close to the elements and the sea. If we are lucky we can see both whales, eagles and many seabirds.
Upon arrival we take a shorter trip (approx. 15 km) to the farm and enjoy a simple lunch while riding before our arrival and check-in at Kvitnes Farm around 4 p.m. We then enjoy a guided tour to learn about the history of the farm, and its sustainable focus.
In the evening: We will be served the famous tasting menu at Kvitnes Gård restaurant, where seasonal ingredients take center stage in beautifully prepared dishes. Drink menu is possible as an addition to the meal.
Day 5: Thursday - Full day hike at Kvitnes and dinner in Naustet
Enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast before we take a full-day horseback ride in the nearby mountains. Fantastic views, about 20-30 km long ride with lunch al fresco.
We ride back to Kaljorda and take the local boat (20min) to Hanøy where our bus is waiting and then a 1 hour and 25 min drive home to the guesthouse. After a hot shower, we welcome you to enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in the boathouse by the beach, and savor a specially prepared meal.
Day 6: Friday - Unstad and cheese course
After breakfast, we head to Unstad and Lofoten Gårdsysteri. This is a full day ride (approx. 20 km) with fantastic views on old mountain roads. We end up at Lofoten Gårdsysteri where we enjoy their award-winning cheeses and get a tour of the goat farm and learn the basics of cheese production from farmer Kveld
Tonight, we enjoy a late dinner and review the week’s experiences together.
Day 7: Saturday: Fishing trip to Henningsvær and cooking class
After a very active week, we start with a late breakfast before we drive to Henningsvær for a guided fishing trip. Experience the thrill of catching local fish in pristine waters, guided by experienced fishermen.
Spend the afternoon in this picturesque fishing village with many local shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants - it's perfect for strolling.
This evening: Participate in a collaborative cooking experience. Working with our chefs to prepare a meal using self-picked wild herbs, self-selected stockfish and your catch of the day - Together, we create the final dinner with suggestions for customized drinks.
