The Masai Mara has been made famous for its huge abundance of varied wildlife, including zebras, elephants and giraffes as well as the annual wildebeest migration and the diversity of bird life, both resident and migrant. ‘Mara’ means ‘spotted’ or ‘dappled’, a reference to the acacia vegetation which dots the savannas of Southern Kenya where the Masai live. Still resident, the Masai have not been influenced by western culture, with their herds of cattle in this unique setting.

This is the Africa of Karen Blixen with the wide open plains, the freely roaming animals and the night sky that opens up with a panorama of stars too numerous to count.
